The steel drum or steelpan is classified as an idiophone, by the Hornbostel-Sacs Number System (111.24).The P.H.I., E-Pan, MalletKat, and PanKat, however, are classified as "electrophones" (Numbers not assigned). Therefore, the E-Pan is NOT a steelpan, much less the "Cadillac of steelpans". By all accounts, it is not even the "Cadillac" of electrophones, as we have witnessed what Indigisounds are doing with the electro-technological manipulation of computer-generated algorithms.
