The steel pan musical instrument, is an instrument like no other, it has a philosophy and idiom all it's own, it can take the place or substute any instrument in an orchestra or symphony, but the instrument's in said orchestras and symphony cannot substute the steel pan at any given time or place, just listen to Winnefred Atwell with Panam North Stars album "Ivory and Steel," where the "Pans" over shadowed the piano, the pans flowed like water, the steel pan is like water, U pour water into a cup it becomes the cup, in a bottle it becomes the bottle, the steel pan can blend in or adapt to any musical piece or form, when Carlton "sonny" Roach was a bored mischevious 11 year old kid walking about St James, looking for something to do, he never dreamed that he would one day discover the 9th wonder of the world, in an interview with George Goddard in 1980, it was just mischief that had him beating on tin cans, trying to drown out the"Shango Drums", and running from police, to later derive the "ping pong" or 1st tenor pan, the strummer or second pan, and the tone boom or bass, what a man, and what an instrument, therefore; this instrument should be abused nor disrespected any further, S.N.S.E. will be putting a stop to all abuse and or disrespect, by way of licening their 4ths & 5ths technology, in accordance with the Copyright Act (Chapter 82:80).

To add insult to injury is the aspect of, we not loving each other, because if we did we would rally behind one another with support in whatever way possible. Sadly it's the other way around with us being quick to put each other down. So, since this great instrument was invented by ones with " no status ", then the invention remains likewise. No Status.
Let me put it to you the way I see it. The main reason.. and I know a lot of people would agree...for the abuse and disrespect for our beloved and great invention, the steel pan, is the fact that it was invented by, if not a Black Man , by Black Men during colonial times, when we were seen as nothing more than beasts of burden whose only purpose was to make life easier for the colonial " masters ". Had it been invented by a Caucasian, it would have been, in the eyes of many, one of the greatest inventions ever. So the disrespect continues to this day, mainly because we let it happen .
