Given the historical and recent friction between NYPD and the steelbands of Brooklyn for simply gathering for band practice and playing music over the years, the latest outcome from the Eric Garner case is very, very troubling. Moreover, one cannot wonder if the accompanying video was simply akin to tragic "reality TV" - an occurrence that ended up for some as  "Entertainment for you, Martyrdom for me" as stated by the group Third World in "96 Degrees In The Shade" - Read more at: http://www.panonthenet.com/news/2014/dec/choke-hold-eric-garner-12-7-2014.htm

This song written by Sam Cooke is considered the anthem for the Civil Rights Movement..."The lyrics speak of a universally understood sense of alienation in their own land, of being treated as second-class citizens, of asking for help -- and not receiving it, even from their own people. And like the great protest spirituals, even when recounting the grossest injustices, the singer continually returns to the hope, the expectation of justice: "Oh, there been times that I thought I couldn't last for long/But now I think I'm able to carry on/It's been a long, a long time coming/But I know a change is gonna come, oh yes it will."
