I am in total agreement with everything said so far, bring back pan on the road sounds good to me. One problem, how do we get bands to play the first two road march songs....the no lyrics Kingdom and Savannah at 300 BPM. I heard of a mas band that asked their members what was their choice for road march and by a large margin Patrice's song won, guess what was played...KINGDOM. I spoke with someone from Toronto last Saturday and she was excited to mention Minshall was back in mas her only problem was the music, Exodus. END THE ROAD MARCH COMPETITION. Let's get back to GROOVING Trini Style.
The only people making money for Carnival is KFC and the big trucks. The steelband players spend so much time preparing to play one song and after panorama, it’s done for them. I live near a steelband that didn’t make the semifinals and after prelims that was the end of the band. Did not move after that. I’m sure we can amplify the steelbands. The players will make the money. There is enough pan in Trinidad &Tobago to carry carnival for three days. As for KFC, vendors spend time and money to prepare to sell good quality food and guess everyone head to KFC. We have to start support local. Too much money is going out. It looks like business community was not sponsoring t much this year.
Nice, sincere posting MR. PIPER!!! Just like how KFC selling fry chicken in Trinidad, I think we could be selling STEELBAND MUSIC globally to bring money in!!!
