MATANZAS, Cuba, Aug 25 (acn) Success Stars Pan Sounds, steel band from Trinidad and Tobago will be presented on August 28th in this city.
The metal drum band, representing the Success Laventille Secondary School (SLSS), will perform at the Parque de La Libertad (Freedom Park), said Eduardo Rodriguez, programmer of Rafael Somavilla Music and Entertainment Marketing Enterprise.
During its stay, the foreign group will exchange with the Atenas Brass Ensemble quintet, brass band led by Rodolfo Horta, in addition to trumpeters of the Matanzas Concert Band.
Horta said that the performance of a steel band from Trinidad and Tobago in Cuba is an opportunity for local audiences, and he expects the promotion mechanisms to work properly for people to become aware and have a valuable experience.
Mambo Number Five by Damaso Perez Prado, A la Cubana by Alejandro Falcon, and American folk songs will be included in the repertoire, Horta noted.
Although most of the presentations of Success Stars Pan Sounds are scheduled for Havana, the band will also travel to the provinces of Pinar del Rio and Matanzas to offer its talent, and visit sites of historic and artistic interest.
The steel bands are a musical modality rooted in Trinidad and Tobago, active representation of African heritage mix with Antillean essence, where percussion generates joy and music as a symbol of identity in that Caribbean nation.

The Cubans called the STEELBAND a METAL DRUM BAND. So nothing wrong with jugando su tambor de metal con un mazo. Look bacchanal for the BUREAU OF STANDARDS in Trinidad who just STANDARDIZED STEELPAN terms at the recently concluded ICP.
