Steelpan players will get their money by the end of the month. That’s the latest word from a representative of the National Carnival Commission ( NCC) who said the money will be realeased so that each player at the preliminary stage of the competition will get a TT$500.00 stipend which is half the amount of money usually paid.

Doom and Gloom it is for the weak at heart. When persons come up with a million ways why it can't be done, I, together with members of the CIP will come up with two million ways why it can. I must admit the climate is unpredictable, and even depressing at times, especially knowing that the steel band came from a history of warriors. I am not seeing this spirit in the eyes of my elders. They are mentally beaten, there is no more passion. However, true soldiers must persevere although the odds may seem stacked against them. This is where you see the true character of men are shown and their names would be remembered long after they leave this earth. God's timing is perfect. Nothing happens before or after his will.
Aquil, what do you see when you look at All Stars for Carnival? I see a lot of OLD PEOPLE, and believe me they are not mentally beaten, as a matter of fact they are making a statement, they are holding on to the STEELBAND, an important part of our culture that they spent their youth developing, they see the value in what we've been blessed with that should be passed on.
Now it's a different story when we look at most of the old people that is directly involved in the management of the steelband, they are the ones that's tired and beaten down, they are the ones that's contented with rolling out the pans for panorama and rolling them back in after it's finish, they are contented with what ever lil kakadah they get and don't want to loose it, in my opinion they are the ones keeping the steelband from the streets today. The Steelband was created for the streets.
I believe everyone has value, the young child, the old person, the pan man/woman, the fans, and so on. Human resource is the most important resource in any organisation. However if we are not placed where we can perform efficiently, it would devalue our end product. I have to know when I can no longer carry my band further and be able to have the humility to pass on the mantle. Succession planning is important, not on for the bands but to for Pan Trinbago.
especially knowing that the steel band came from a history of warriors
What yuh missing, Mr. Aquil, is that the REAL PAN WARRIORS left the shores of TRINIDAD long ago and went to FOREIGN!!! That is why PAN outside of TRINIDAD is EXPANDING LIKE THE UNIVERSE and the Trinidad Pan Scene ended in a PANORAMA FIXATION.
Why yuh think all the talk on this FORUM is just about PANORAMA and $500 and $1000. Nobody even CHAT about PAN MUSIC!!! What do musical instruments do: They make music!!! Except OUR INSTRUMENT cannot make any music unless your name is JONATHAN SCALES or ANDY NARELL or VICTOR PROVOST or TRACY THORNTON.
Even GOD cannot HELP PAN in TRINIDAD!!! How is that for DOOM AND GLOOM?

Mi Amigo, I have to differ on this warriors bit/piece, "bamboo tam boo" and pan derived when, our ancestors "shango drums " playing, "scare the so-call white man, aka albino, an animal lacking coloration of hair, eyes, and skin, where they taught it was war drums, WERE OUTLAWED/BAN", as jungle animals are the only specie that is afraid of drum beating. OK, have U ever seen a cowboy and Indians movie, when the Indians start beating on their drums, the co-call white man get scared,,the Indians knew it and uses it as a weapon, our ancestors dancing was about releasing pent up stress, they taught it was a war dance, after they ban the drumming, THEY, took/copied our ancestors dancing indoors placing masks on their faces to fool one another, calling it "Masquerade", our ancestors started using the "bamboo to disguise a tamboo drum"that was later phased out by "tin pans bottle and spoon" etc etc etc, then the dust bin, paint pans, costic soda drum, Biscuit drum and finally the steel drum, the warriors was actually the protectors/security of the steel bands, and more elders has remained and died in T&T , and there will never be any better steel pan music anywhere in "this World" than T&T, Andy Narell is the only one trying to do something, where he's using the old "Invaders Errol Zephrine and Emmanuel (cobo jack) Riley" style of music, the Scales, Provost Thornton, are just playing with modes scales, they are not doing anything that hasn't been by, "rock" Johnston, Kelvin Hart, Jules Cazaborn, Nurlin Tate, Eman Thorpe, Ray Holman< Robbie Greenidge, Anthony Williams, "sonny" Roach myselfe, Ellie Mannette, his nephew Herman Gomes, etc etc etc...Headley
You know the cowboys win the war right. They give the indians boos and smallpox in blankets as gifts. Just saying.
I guess it's the "elders" fault Claude...the "mentally beaten" elders...I have to agree with him though, since man do get buss head and buss face for playing with rival bands again...Now even "elders" supporting the skullduggery...and we want to know why nobody complaining about late "payment"...and worse the possibility of a $500.00 "salary cut"...
This is the point where the CONCERNED INDIVIDUALS FOR PAN should step up to the podium and announce loudly (even if it is a BLUFF) that the PAN MEN are REFUSING TO ACCEPT $500 and they are DEMANDING $1000 or they will NOT PLAY for PANORAMA 2018.
Come on Gregory and Aquil and Oswald!!! It just cannot be about taking over the office from KEITH DIAZ. How about showing some leadership skills and delivering a full paycheck to the PAN MEN.
Better than that, you could organize a MARCH outside DOCTOR DOLLY office and the NCC office with about 1000 pan men/women/mercenaries/crackshots/hustlers and sympathizers of this EXPLOITED GROUP.
Step up to the plate MORNING GLORY and BE A LEADER!!!
The CIP have one card and it's the boycott card, even if they play it they have no guarantee that they could generate the interest they had at the beginning of the year. The South Central Region decision really hurt their drive,
