Update #2 on the PAN MINISTRY - Philanthropy in Pan

Update 2 on the Pan Ministry- Philanthropy in pan

We have presented two questions thus far, now we add a third.

(1)   What else can be done for pan? and we responded with three general suggestions

(a)    BUSINESS – a pan industry, (b) PROMOTION – get the pans in higher institutions of learning on an equivalent basis as that of string and wind ensembles the world over (c) EDUCATION – establish a continuous year round academic program in the pan yards of T&T ( see previous posts on this facebook page.)

(2)   What constitutes a ministry in T&T? we have also addressed this in detail please scroll down to previous posts on this same page.

(3)   Philanthropic work with the pan?

Giving to the underprivileged and destitute is a humanistic good initiative. A pan ministry should make philanthropic gestures like donating annually at least five 12-piece steelband groups with support to underprivileged schools in various countries. There are many benefits in this gesture especially if it works in conjunction with some United Nations organization. We have heard the saying “Instead of giving the village barrels of fish every week, teach them how to fish and get them the fishing gears and a boat”. A pan ministry should make good on this as this will be a great system of not just promoting the pan internationally but also the republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Even though the sincere intent is philanthropy in the end it will assist in generating business for the pan  as the initiative expands and becomes more popular.
