“....if the steelband movement is to go forward, we cannot do so with Keith Diaz as the president”

Former Vice President of Pan Trinbago Bryon Serrette during his CNC3 interviewGlobal - With grumblings in social media circles by pan players in Trinidad & Tobago about a possible boycott of Panorama 2017, along with frustration voiced by many during the year - saying they had not received their stipends due them for participating in the 2016 season, another element has now been thrown into the mix.

Bryon Serrette - the now-former Vice President of Pan Trinbago, after being the organization’s No. 2 in command for the past seven years, tendered his resignation this past Sunday, October 30. This was brought about, basically, by allegations of fraud and improprieties within Pan Trinbago.

  •  we tired of the same thing over and over- all that talk about boycott is road march material

i know the vp but going back to goddard and after its all about the trimmings and control in true trini style

love live pan even without  p t

  • THE TIME HAS COME TO SHUT DOWN PAN TRINDAGO.

    •  and start something else???

change of the guard with taxpayers $$$

       who can shut it down

only the govt really if it refuses support  but none  will do that

its we culture  and they must seem to be politically correct

      • It's left to be seen what the government will do here, they are caught between ah rock and ah hard place, however I don't think Mr Rowley is going to let Pan Trinbago make him look chuppid. It's one thing when one thief for self, but when they start to thief for they pardner that makes tax payers angry.

        • Cecil: Dem pardners eh want no Hyundai and Kia  SUV yuh know ... is BMW and AUDI!!! I supposed to be going down to Santa Anita tomorrow to watch the Breeders Cup races but this bacchanal sweeter than all that.

          • Senor Gonzales:
You amaze me, and I’m sure many other WST’ers. It’s obvious you maintain an inordinately hectic daily schedule and yet you consistently find time to make time just to keep us plebs up-to-date and apprised of all things pan. We are so fortunate. Thank you.

And now to add more intrigue to your already envious profile it appears you participate in the sport of kings. You need not ask — I don’t play the horses. To put it simply: The wife has stated categorically that until I am financially independent I am prohibited from all forms of gambling. Ah cyah even play a PlayWhe, boye.

Anyway, check this. A few nights ago I had a dream that I was at Santa Rosa Park in Arima and that I bet on 5 horses. Let me see if I remember dey names. The first was SassyRosabelle. The second was WineItUpBetty. The third was PickPocketYouFool. The fourth was LadyOfTheNight. And I don’t remember the last one. In the dream, ah bet and ah eh win. Not even in meh dreams ah lucky, boye. Ah tell yuh Señor, if it weren’t for bad luck I would have no luck at all.

Anyhow, what a coincidence it would be if you made it down to your race track tomorrow and there were horses with any one of those above names. Don’t bet the farm but you go throw down a couple bucks, right? If you do, good luck. Remember me if you win.

By the way, you have mentioned that Mexican food makes you susceptible to gastronomical trauma. So, forgo the tacos and the burritos and opt for a simple hotdog/hamburger. If you were in Arima I would have suggested a roti/doubles. Buh yuh eh dey. So later.

  • The elephant in the room now becomes if the government is going to disperse money to Pan Trinbago for panorama 2017. We all know about  innocent until proven guilty thing but it's been a long time people complaining about corruption in PT. Panorama is just a few weeks away hard decisions has to be made soon. Never ah dull moment in the Mecca.

    • Cecil: The government BUSY reshuffling the cabinet; they do not have time for this small potato politics. Plus, Pan Trinbago is UNTOUCHABLE if you understand the politics of RACE in Trinidad & Tobago.

  • I am now laughing in Spanish. This has gone all long before now. Byron should also talk about the corrupt transaction that went on between Pantrinbago and the Nigerian Navy pan players trained recently in Trinidad where monies were shared between himself and the director of music in Nigeria. I cried out when he tried to swindle me with the formation of ATTSDC when they tried to reap where they did not sow. Byron should also talk about how Pantrinbago continuously swindled pan players brought to Nigeria and given peanuts while Diaz and his cronies stole the lions share from the pan men. I respect Byron for this decision and hope pan men who voted the thieves in will realize that the time to remove Diaz was the day he was voted in as president. I wait impatiently  for his removal.

    • This whole thing is a joke! I laughing in French too Chief. Where was Serrette when the New Visionaries were pointing to all these corrupt practices in Pan Trinbago? Is the same, identical thing he is complaining of today! He must share the blame too for turning a blind eye. Anyhow, its never too late! All dem fellas have to visit Frederick Street, and soon too!! Importing Fancy Cars and Pan people cant get they measley $1000.?!? Let me see how the Pan Players will take this one.
