Two or three Carnivals ago, when Pan Trinbago introduced an exclusive party zone to the people’s Panorama, I protested, warning that the organisation that was supposed to protect and promote pan was instead disrespecting pannists and the national instrument.
Today, my worst fears have materialised. The centrepiece of our Carnival, the sweet sounds of steel that make us overwhelmingly different to other street carnivals around the globe, is being strangled to death by its step-parents and care-givers in a macabre ritual of death by friendly fire, or better put, “pano-cide”.

Question: How is it that idiots, I mean real idiots, always seem to find themselves in seats of "power"?. Anyone who thinks that drunken partying people who don't care a rat's ass about Pan music, are going to be vigilant about turning down"their" music, which should not have been there in the first place, when the bands are on stage is mentally incapacitated,no, STUPID. I live in NY and I'm ready to come down and "buss" Diaz's head. I'll ask the question again. WHERE HAVE ALL THE REAL MEN GONE?. Oh, how I long for the good ole "bad-john" days when men were men.

Only when the real big names, Boogsie, Smooth, Pelham and others take a stand, forgetting about sponsorship, and boycott, then and only then will this disrespect for our endangered art-form come to and end.

I do agree with u, ''One Hundred percent'' they are a bunch of jokers, I wish more people could really realize & @ the same time understand what you are saying, & where you are coming from. There's an old typical Trini saying "Dis is we Ting" lately that's not looking too good to us! The Fat Cats is only findings ways to fatten there pockets. & it has totally nothing to do with our Culture anymore. Carnival is Calypso, Pan & Mass, I also say it's "Pano-Cide" that's a real sad thing, {WAKE-UP} {WAKE-UP}.I guess Ellie Mannette idea to transplant pan amongs a people that cares & respect Culture was not a bad idea after all, simply because. What is happening to pan in sweet TnT right now will never happen in other parts of the world. The lack of respect for pan in the country of its origin is appaling!
The whole elected officials lead by Mr Diaz need to be removed from office . They are a disgrace to the steelpan.
What happens after Carnaval is finished,,does the Steelpan Players have a regular gig year long,,or do they have to fend for themselves otherwise just to obtain an income to support themselves and family,,therefore Downing The Pan Sticks now,,Immediately ,,would be a just cause ,,for the fact remains that after Panaroma you are still back to square one,, BOYCOTT IS THE ONLY ANSWER,,,,PAN REVOLUTION,,,,note well that with all of the injustice,,disrespect etc exercised towards Panmen and Panwomen,,a Minister of Cutture ,,Sport and Youth ought to take action and make everything right ,,,instead he is Silent,,and I do know for a fact that WST Forum is Sensored,PAN REVOLUTION,,,BOYCOTT,let everything remain at a standstill,to the point.

Shah what you addressed is, as you know nothing new.The whole decline is when everybody start putting pan on big truck. This is the greatest insult to pan because when its time for the supporters and fans to really enjoy their band on the road, is truck noise, smoke, with pans high up in the air. You can't hear nothing sweet. Lack of bass etc. Then truck man move so fast people leave the band quickly. Next, having small band category, medium band category, and judging large band in the panyards. All this killed panorama finals. The latest, pool party. How did Patrick Arnold, and Cadiz mess this thing up so, and it continues. Finally, you have the minister of culture, wearing African garb and telling people its a good thing. Clowns. THE ONLY TIME TRINIDADIANS CAN ENJOY PAN IS ON THE STRIP, WHERE THEY PRACTICE RUNNING THE TUNE BEFORE THEY GO ON STAGE, NO BIG TRUCK HERE.
