She should fire her PROPAGANDA QUEEN for STEPPING OUT OF THE RING and bringing down the WRATH OF GOD (THE BEV LIKE TO TALK ABOUT GOD!!!) on TOBAGO and PAN TRINBAGO.
As far as I was concerned, there was very little talent in that competition. THE FRENCH GUY was good; but as I said many times before TOO ROBOTIC for me. THE WINNER had a very limited musical range and as a CALYPSO LOVER -- to me, he DID NOT UNDERSTAND THE SONG.
Ah doh know how much ah allyuh GROW UP IN TRINIDAD. But when I grow up in TRINIDAD and you listen to a calypso on the radio and you learn the song and memorize the lyrics and then you go in ah fete and hear DEM BIG BANDS PLAY THE SONG -- you could hear the authenticity in the replication and varied arrangements and you know exactly what you are listening to -- a copy of an ORIGINAL with embellishments from the CALYPSO IDIOM. No mental distractions and hollow musical gymnastics in THE JAM!!!
THAT TOBAGO BOY -- LIKE HE NEVER LISTEN TO PAN BY STORM or have ANY IDEA what THE CALYPSO IS ABOUT. At very few points in his performance you could actually FEEL THE CALYPSO -- but the rest of the time it was like PAN CONFUSION (ah was going to use ah different word). So he coulda NEVER WIN IN MY BOOKS.
But the FALLOUT and BACCHANAL turns out to be MORE FUN than THE ACTUAL SHOW. And I like how THE CORRUPT JUDGING was EXPOSED by JOHN Q PUBLIC on all these INTERNET PLATFORMS. I doh believe in THE GOD THING but since BEVERLEY LIVES ON THAT ROAD -- ah go have to say: GOD DOH SLEEP.
Ah hope THIS BACCHANAL die down soon so that I could go PACK UP ME STUFF IN PEACE and decide WHERE I AM HEADING NEXT ... up to this point and I DON'T KNOW ... but the clock is TICKING REAL LOUD!!!

bugs: You are not going to like my answer; but I am going to try to make my point.
When I went to look at that show, I was not BACKING ANYBODY. First of all, I was hoping that 8 out of the 10 contestants would PLAY CALYPSOS. Yuh know that I never stray from my love for CALYPSO. Secondly, I wanted to be WOWED by a GOOD PAN PERFORMANCE -- and that did not really happen. So, for that reason, I never really picked a winner and left it up to the judges. But most of the world saw the TOBAGO WIN AS POLITICAL -- and so did I.
For me to answer your question, I would have to go back and listen to the entire show and make a pick. But it is NOT CALYPSO -- so I would not do that. I don't like PAN THAT MUCH.
I could tell you WHO from the show WILL EMERGE as a GLOBAL PAN STAR in the next 5 years -- and it is not THE TOBAGO WINNER.
IT IS DAVID YUNDI -- he is DESTINED to be THE PAN STAR (from Trinidad) that I have been waiting on and hoping for since I came on THIS FORUM. He is still developing and he went over the time limit in his performance and lost points. Although I did not think that he was good enough at this point to WIN last Saturday.
Yuh know I have a PERMANENT CONCUSSION: I only like CALYPSO ON PAN ... well maybe a LITTLE POP now and then. Ask merrytonestothebone who he thinks won -- he is THE PAN TEACHER!!!
I might spend the winter in LAS VEGAS watching THE RAIDERS -- and then head to TAMPA BAY!!! NOT SURE!!!
