Were you satisfied with Wack PPV $9.99 on the ICP? It was better than nothing but I had to View the PPV (Video was poor) on Wack, turn off the volume, (which was very bad) and listen to the audio on Vibe ct 105.1 which was much better.

Some day somebody will get it right.

  • i am not buying any webcasts out of T&T.

There is no reason why pan and Carnival shows cannot be on cable TV.

There are hundreds of pay cable channels available and there is no reason why pan and carnival shows cannot be broadcast.

Lately I've been watching Caribbean cricket on TV .

    In my Home !

    In New Hampshire , USA.!!

If sports people can do it , pan and carnival people can do it too !

    • They spending too much time Peeping, Macco-ing he and Macco-ing she, they not trusting anybody,

  • I was NOT satisfied with the PPV $9.99 reception. As you got connected the picture froze within a minute and never came back. I had to resort to listen to the audio. Can I get refunded

    CLIFFORD EDWARDS

    • I think if you pay by Pay Pal you could get a refund, you have to file a resolution Claim by then you might say, Fack it, and would not bother, lol

  • Overall I was happy with the broadcast. Quality wise in this day and age of high definition and international broadcast it was pretty low quality. I would have paid more to see it if that was necessary. The host were questioning each other about the bands even when, they had a portfolio of information in front of them about the upcoming band. Something as important as this should have been hosted with a little more professionalism. If it were free I would say it was adequate. I would love to know the amount of money Wack had to pay Pan Trinbago for the rights to broadcast the show.

  • I have let it be known far and wide that after paying my ten dollars...I never received PROMO code needed to view the panorama...I called and spoke twice to WACK...Mrs. Phillips...I was assured both times PROMO code was forthcoming. Fortunately VIBE 105fm was also on (AUDIO) by the time band No.8 hit the stage...I contact WACK once more asking for reversal of charges (process my refund).  Of course there has been no response to this request.

  • Yes

  • It was not bad for the most part, however there was no audio at all when the 21st contestant (Arima Golden) got on stage. Audio was resumed when they were leaving the stage. At this point the video got really scrambled and for the rest of the show, the music didn't match the movements, neither did the commentators' words match the sound. Definitely a lot of room for improvement is needed here.

  • Well the 1st International Conference and Panorama has come and gone. The Panorama itself was pretty good over all. However, the stream did break-up on my tablet so I had to change to my wired laptop to get around the doggy internet stream. That said, it was quite enjoyable.

As far as Pay per view is concerned, I was most satisfied with the opportunity. I can only hope as time goes on the small issues will be addressed. Starting with not under-estimating the demand and catering for high-speed broadband.

The logistics, presentation and organisation of those putting it on, left a lot to be desired.

Presenters obviously were not afforded basic background information. Things like time-zone knowledge or lack of it, took away a degree of professionalism. For example Mr. La Pierre and his co-presenters were not provided with the fact that Japan was 16 hours ahead of Trinidad. Which at times made them look incompetent. Not their fault. WACK should have had researchers doing the job of providing useful information to its presenters and consequently making for a more professional approach.

The Savannah stage broke halfway through causing total mayhem. This in turn confirmed Trinidad is still very much a third world country. Isn’t about time a more permanent structure is put in place for this type of event? It not like we still have horse racing staged there or Inter-Col for that matter. I’m showing my age here. Both the Grandstand and “North-stand” for that matter should be completely rebuilt. I very much doubt whether doing so would not be in keeping with the conditions stipulated by the Town council which purchased it from the Peschier family.

To those who lack the foresight…. Many of the foreign orchestras performing yesterday used background instruments from local bands. Thus proving it is possible to have a degree of uniformity and convention when it comes to drastically reducing the long drawn-out performance of a Panorama show. Just like a modern orchestra a piano is always a piano, a trumpet is a trumpet, so should we be looking at making steel-pans as standard as possible. If you are a musician you should be able to play your preferred instrument irrespective of who made it. Trinidad steel bands must move towards music literacy thus musicians will just need to walk on stage and perform instead of the time being wasted pushing racks on and off stage. With the exception of a few sponsors, whose branding may be lost, a slick fast moving show would be much better to sell to foreign media thus improving the financial viability of the event.

The hard-lined traditionalist amongst you will argue that each band is unique. To that I say rubbish; the modern steelpan is very much similar in tonal quality as the tuners more or less use the tried and tested method in producing the finished product. It is no longer possible to tell the difference between Invaders, Desperadoes, Starlift, All Stars and Skiffle like it was in the old days. Kellman and  Harrigan put paid to that, thankfully. Today it’s only the arranger that brings uniqueness to the table.

Finally to Pan Trinbago I say thank you, and hopefully your efforts will be rewarded with many more International Panorama competitions. And to All Stars, Congratulations.

As a way of ensuring things do get better, may I suggest Basement Recordings and WST find a way of being part of the solution.
