I'm stealing Noah's post from another site.

I love this idea (as long as the Panorama finals goes on first).  And I have to admit I have ulterior motives. I don't believe the medium and small bands can stand on their own, but here is a chance for them to prove themselves.

I also predict that after this experiment all the so call medium bands will run to the large category and small bands will beg to have their panorama in May or June. The results of this will be an economically sound show in 2020.

  • What about NOT having small and medium bands categories. But do have competitions for them after the carnival season.

  • This will make the Dimache Gras too too long.  Will the youths be able to handle this?.  Leave it as in the past few years.

  • What they are doing today don't work, so go back to what they did before.

    • Why add a too long show to another too long show? Pan Trinbago needs to find a reasonable way to reduce significantly its production costs; having all these categories of steelbands in the Panorama competition does not help to achieve that goal.

      • Agreed. Go back to what they did before which is a dozen conventional finalists playing songs from the current year. If need be have a retrorama some other time in the year with reduced band sizes following the ICP model, so all bands can participate and play those old classics.

      • It's the transport that's killing PT.

  • Clarification. This is not my idea but something I saw in "Pan Trivia" on FB, I just shared it in another group. I don't think it's panorama's responsibility to prop up dimanche gras and I also think the categories should be eliminated anyway...

  • That's an impossibility in the modern carnivals.   What will happen to the big trucks toting way the large bands on j'ouvert morning. Yes it will be j'ouvert morning even if the panorama will start at 6 o'clock pm Sunday evening.. Who in their middle age and old age will attend Panorama and then attend J'ouvert and also have some sleep between 11.00 am and 2.00am and then come back out to join Etienne Charles Monday mas bands for the elders and a new one call "Blow Mano Blow "plus Allstars Monday thousands of sailors on shore. Just not possible any more. Think guys think. Instead of bouncing up steelbands rolling on j'ouvert morning say 5.30, we will be bouncing up big truck moving pans unplayed. Who is going to stay up all night playing pan either outside the Savannah practising their lastending runs or adjustments as seen in most big bands, then some of the players will have to play j'ourvert morning.  Are they machines or humans?  If humans they will need sleep. Think guys think.

    • Do ppl rest/sleep for carnival? Five minutes is all they need.

  • Bugs, the medium and small don't stand a chance the day before, the week before they stand a better chance..
