If allyuh so love the PAN why don't you guys give up the NORTH AMERICAN LIFE and take YOUR SKILLS back to TRINIDAD and BRING PAN INTO YOUR VISION. Complaining from the outside does NOTHING FOR PAN.
Bertel Gittens keeps inviting everybody back (into 2016 PAN) but he has ZERO TAKERS.
Yet you guys sit here with ALL THE SOLUTIONS and refuse to go back home to BRING PAN BACK TO THE SIXTIES ... which seems to be THE DREAM!
TRINIDAD (2016) IS A RUDE AWAKENING!!! Especially for returning EXPATS and FOREIGNERS.
The one thing that we could do from the OUTSIDE is MAKE GOOD PAN MUSIC and nobody seems interested in that.

SAME OLD, SAME OLD...
There is still a window of opportunity for the Steelband, but it is closing very fast. Make use of Carnival Monday afternoon.
Ok Bugs…since you seem to always have an answer to every question (except the ones you deliberately avoid…and I won;t bother to repeat)…as Claude asks, how can you expats help T&T in our time of need? What can they bring to the table besides, Pan Am, Guinness, Synco, Tripoli etal?
Personally I don't think expats should approach Pan in Trinidad as savors. That will not go down well and will only rub the folks on the ground in Trinidad the wrong way.
However, there are many people of Trinidad and Tobago decent that are in key decision making positions in some very critical industries that could have a game changing impact on Pan in Trinidad. For instance, the current president of Howard University is Trinidadian. Setting up a reoccurring situation where Panorama champions travel to Howard University to perform every year at their graduation ceremony and other major US government functions would do wonders for Trinidad Pan in terms of marketing, moral and financial gain. There use to be a similar agreement with the New York Daily News in the past.
There are Trinidadians in key places in Hollywood. They can be used for guaranteeing strategic placement of Trinidad Pan brands and performance in movies, video games etc.
The job of the expats is to insure that anything involving Trinidad Pan is successful when it is within their reach. For example, the last time the Festival was held in New York it was completely sold out. I dare say it would be sold out every year if it was held in New York.

My only remaining question is…Who will bell the cat?…Because ole talk does on breed more ole talk...
LOL
Well you did ask?
Expats need work on helping by creating opportunities outside for those on the ground. If those on the ground could have done it - they would have by now.
Just look at the CD and DVD products covering T&T greatest Pan event. They are shitty. In an era when we are talking 4K video and above, these are barely HD. The sound quality from most kids video games can run rings around these products. Expats can do a better job.

Bugs my concern in all this is that people have a way of only wanting to associate with the top brass of the steelband world…the Big Bands, the Winners…do you think expats will be prepared to to consider creating opportunities for "lesser mortals"…bands and individuals?
Yes they would.
The US is massive. There are over 300 million people. The smaller bands are only small in terms of a Trinidad mindset.

I say "pan" will reach when it is its time. That is to say "what will be will be." No sooner than that.
Is we own. We invented it. Is we own. We invented it. End of story.
