Hey Cecil, You are correct about the DJ's replacing all the live music. I was blown away by the amount of live bands on the road in Aruba. Aruba is now picture perfect of what carnival used to be in T&T. this includes their mass, wire bending works and full costuming. I saw one steel band with a bass guitar player, it was a nice innovation by using this combination, but the band had 6 tenors, 4 double seconds 3 guitars and rhythm section. Sorry....nobody was pushing the pans... they were drawn by a small truck. The power of the live bands were just right...not hurting your ear drum.... very well balanced.

Carlyle, Steelbands have to organize themselves, no one ain't doing it for them
There was no stopping the DJ, the boycott in '79 probably just made it happen sooner. The DJ kill the whole live music industry they put many musicians out of work.
As far as the Steelband is concern they suffered because they never had a PLAN B.
