This is one of those questions for which there is no easy answer. What made me ask this question is a member said that if it was up to him he would keep panorama the main thing, panorama has now become the main reason for a steelband, we should be ashamed because this is not progress, in the sixties steelbands played in fetes, panorama and on the road Monday and Tuesday for carnival, fifty years later after panorama most go to sleep until the next year, this has become the new norm, what did we do to the steelband?
Educated people were supposed to take the steelband to the next level, what they came up with is hire ah DJ.

Cecil, All these year people always take the Steelband for granted, they want the Band to play for Free, but when they hire a DJ they pay him.
In five hours this topic had six views which could only mean one of a few things, 1 it's a stupid question, 2 no one knows, 3 doh want to talk about it, 4 not important.
If this question was asked in the sixties it would have been a no brainer, dah, for we to play mas would have been the answer.
Fast forward to today it becomes complex, the older heads are angry and feel helpless and the youths are not that interested, in the mean time there are those that are ready to pull the plug on the steelband.
It is my opinion that this topic should be at the fore front on every pan site, there should always dialogue about the status of the steelband and it should be made known that panorama is NOT the main function of the steelband.

I hope this question is asked in the town hall meeting in T&T and their focus is on 2014 onward.
