  • Hey Bugs,

i can speak for the uk and say that especially in London, the people and the vibe seems very similar to what's going on in New York and Trinidad. Like you guys we too have breakaway musicians, plenty of island style gigs and pan is present in many, many schools across london and the uk in general.
Notting Hill carnival is the biggest attraction in europe by far and the panorama is a big deal to those in the know.
I think the Trini's that came here in the 60's and 70's gave us a legacy that i hope pan people today are fulfilling to the best they can.
we have pan players in europe that have incredible talent and are pushing musical boundaries as always. As for steelbands we can boast with pride that we are keeping up our end of the bargain.
for many pan musicians in the uk, pan has become a way of life and maybe the most enjoyable thing is that pan brings people together from all walks of life, class and culture no matter what, but once in a panyard everyone becomes an honorable Trini.
