As everybody on this FORUM knows, I am not INTO THE PAN MUSIC TING!!! But over the years I have OBSERVED the PASSION that so many PAN LOVERS have for the instrument. And it just so happens that I LOVE people who have REAL PASSION for ANYTHING.
So when I read this article, what STRUCK ME MOST was the PASSION FOR PAN that "THESE PEOPLE" are bringing to the instrument. Is like DEY LOVE PAN as much as HARD CORE TRINI PAN LOVERS.
Read these lines below and tell me if THE PASSION FOR PAN just does not JUMP OUT AT YOU.
After his visit in January, he and Crellin’s principal, Dana McCauley, were chatting about the positive results of the workshop and how one of the school’s children had built his own steel drum at home. Then they concocted a plan to do that on a larger scale and built a whole steel band with the help of the Crellin community.
“Kevin said, ‘you know, with all the support you have — all those involved staff members and parents and kids — I really think we can do this,’” McCauley said. “And I said, ‘I’m certain we can do this!’”
So with the help of parents traveling far and wide to obtain the needed materials, and working long days last week with students and parents at the school until 8 p.m. or later, the Crellin crew did complete the building of the drums.
The cafeteria staff made dinners, and parents and grandparents worked to drill holes, temper the steel by setting it on fire, tune the drum heads (called “pans”), and build stands for each of the new pans. Every day there was an assembly line of volunteers, with each one helping the other. The students flitted from one station to the next, and romped on the playground in between.
“It has been amazing,” said Roth. “Just so much excitement. The kids love Kevin, and they are having fun staying here into the evening and watching their parents work so hard on this project.”

So when they elect THE NEW PRESIDENT of PAN TRINBAGO if that PRESIDENT lacks the GLOBAL VISION for the INSTRUMENT and could only concentrate ON PANORAMA -- THE MECCA will SHIFT faster to the NORTH than most people could IMAGINE!!!
