Yet another controversy for Trinidad chief justice...
PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad — Embattled Trinidad and Tobago Chief Justice Ivor Archie is now embroiled in yet another controversy, this time over allegations that he tried to tried to influence Supreme Court justices to change their personal state-provided security in favour of a private security company that employs his “close friend” Dillian Johnson, a convicted felon, as a consultant.
In an article in the Sunday Express by Denyse Renne, headlined “CJ and the Convict”, the newspaper said that Archie, 57, has been joined by Johnson, 35, on official trips abroad.
Archie reportedly held a judge’s meeting when he expressed the opinion that the local police and were inadequate to provide the security needed and he was therefore considering private security companies.
