Sandra Awaii had all the SPONSORSHIP CONNECTIONS in the world in Trinidad. She spent decades building these contacts and helping STEELBANDS. When she became PRO of PAN TRINBAGO she was working with 63 COMPANIES across TRINIDAD and 21 of these companies were TRENDING towards SPONSORING STEELBANDS and donating money to others.
In less than a month BEVERLEY RAMSEY-MOORE forced Sandra Awaii out of PAN TRINBAGO because Sandra would have seemed too much like a PAN HERO overshadowing the PRESIDENT.
As a result, STEELBANDS suffered without even knowing how the internal politics left them scrunting.
Mr. Lawford Dupres promised to deliver $30,000,000 to the PAN TRINBAGO coffers once he was elected president. And he had some of the most HIGH-POWERED and POLITICALLY-CONNECTED Pan Lovers in the upper-crust TRINIDAD SOCIETY on his team. (Trust me -- I could provide a list of his support staff ... REALLY TALENTED PEOPLE.)
Beyond that, the BUSINESS COMMUNITY was going to come in with another $20,000,000 to move PAN FORWARD and make Trinidad THE MECCA of STEELBAND once again. Because people who are keeping close tabs (objectively) know that AMERICA is now THE GLOBAL LEADER in STEELDRUM EDUCATION and MUSIC.
In reality, $50,000,000 were earmarked for PAN TRINBAGO starting October 28th, 2018 under Mr. Lawford Dupres -- and the STEELBAND COMMUNITY rejected ALL THAT.
So when I see the STEELBANDS complaining and all these people writing all these PIE IN THE SKY articles about PAN PROGRESS -- I see a lot of HYPOCRISY in the PAN COMMUNITY because their SHIP attempted TO COME IN and they refused to let it DOCK.
