  • Wiadca, within the confines of their budget, are using a one size fits all approach by hiring audio personnel to serve both brass and steelbands shows held at the Museum. There appears to be a strong correlation between Wiadca's motive to keep their expenditures as low as possible and a deliberate ignorance on their part of low quality product (panorama) being produced, promoted and sold to the public. The powers that be have been banking on the notion that any and everything sounds good when folks have plenty rum, roti  and hurry curry in their system. This is a problem that steelbands have been complaining about for years to Wiadca but the complaints have fallen on deaf ears. I understand that panorama is Wiadca's competition/show and it can do whatever it wants but steelbands need to re-evaluate that competition for what it is, their participation in that competition and what it is doing for the NY steelband community as a whole and demand better from Wiadca. Steelbands have to come together and stick together and hold Wiadca accountable because without the participation of the steelband community there would be no panorama for Wiadca to hold every Labour Day weekend. What may affect one of us can affect all of us.
