The double tenor and double seconds were around when Bertie Marshall was still in short pants. Ernest Ferreira and Percy Thomas from Dixieland did that in 1952.

I agree with your info. on the designer and maker of the double second but I think we have to be careful about placing the double tenor along that same line of development. The tone and the placement of the notes were completely different.

In 1952 I was only 8 yrs old so the only one that I knew was Bertie Marshall but some Historians always say it was not bertie marshall, (good to know)
