  • Sabrina let Andy come back, but all arrangers MUST UNDERSTAND that panorama is an arranged calypso competition among steelbands and not about something different. We have or can have competitions and shows for "something different"(revive pan in the 21st century)...Andy's tune could have easily won that. What if two bands this year decided to come with a samba tune, two others with reggae, another two with hip hop,to add to the chutney and jazz, then people would be oblivious of panorama and simply attend "A COMPETITION AMONG STEELBANDS AT CARNIVAL TIME" I say let the true meaning of panorama be told.

  • I just want to say i enjoyed Birdsong's presentation this year. It certainly was different . I really don't care what the judges think or what the die-hards think. bravo to Birdsong's mangagement team and of course, Andy Narrel. Comme on dit ici ,Andy-- Courage et bonne continuation ! ---

    • Wisdom well expressed.
      • I am looking foward to hearing Birdsong and Andy in 2014.

  • Miss the performance live?  Check-out this video of Birdsong in their final rehearsal in their St. Augustine panyard the night before semis.  Was the tune and the performance worth all of this discussion?  I vote yes!

    • thanks for posting that video, i been wanting to see what all this fuss is about. .....

well whaddya know.... it's the typical same-ole same-old Andy Narell tune. Similar chords, progressions, change keys, and structure to all OTHER Andy Narell tunes we've ever heard.

Nice music but *yawn*. Someone posted something the other day about AN music sounding like dentist office or supermarket music and i have to agree.

while i respect the man for his skill, talent, musicianship, and dedication to pan, his music bores me.  this is not and never will be a Panorama tune. and is definitely NOT 'the last word'.

did he really think he had a chance with this?   seriously??

      .

    • Wow! Sweet! Diabetic!

      Thanks for sharing! ;-)

  • IN MY HUMBLE OPINOIN ANDY HAS TO COME BACK BUT HE HAS NOTHING TO PROVE TO ME PER SAY.

IF HE IS CHOSEN TO TAKE PART IN A MUSICAL COMPETITION HE HAS TO BE COMPETITIVE WHICH WE KNOW AND MOST IMPORTANTLY HE KNOWS HE IS CAPABLE OF.

TO ME HE WOULD HAVE MADE MORE OF A MUSICAL STATEMENT BY HONING HIS CRAFT ON MUSIC BUILT FOR PANORAMA BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH I LOVED THE LAST WORD AND ITS EXCELLENT EXECUTION, I BELIEVE BIRDSONGS PAN ACADEMY DESERVES A TRIP TO THE FINAL AND I KNOW MR NARELL COULD HAVE TAKEN THEM THERE IF HE WASNC'T INSISTANT IN CONDUCTING HIS OWN MUSICAL EXPERIMENT.

    • Reuben

If Andy has nothing to prove, then why must he come back?

Name one time when Andy has been competitive in any panorama competition?

Why does Bridsong deserve a trip to the finals? What makes them more deserving than any other band that did not make the finals?

Who told you Andy was experimenting? Are you calling Birdsong lab animals?

      • I have to laugh!
You know what I mean your just stirring the pot.
He has it in him to arrange a great panorama winning tune. The fact he made it no secret that he was not in it to win led me to believe he was conducting an experiment with the listening public.
As for lab animals don't be petty!
