It is my opinion that the greatest disrespect Pan people and Pan culture face in Trinidad and Tobago is the Party on the Greens that is held in the mist of the Panorama semifinals. And even worst is that this distraction and disrespect is facilitated by the very people whose job it is to protect the sanctity of the pan.
In what planet would you find an organization that would sponsor a competing event for a bunch of (mostly intoxicated) people who have absolutely no interests in pan music? In fact, they bring their own music and band. Moreover they are visibly upset when the steelband begins to perform and interrupt their fete.
Is this the best Pan in Trinidad can do 52 years later?

I LOVE IT, Here Here Here; how right U R ...
This has been the brilliant advice presented to the management committee of Pan Trinbago Inc., What is worse is that the performing bands at this fiasco do not get anything (financial or otherwise from the proceeds , which is in excess of 5 million dollars). Pan Trinbago still in the red , so where is the money going?
Would panorama die with "Party on the greens"? Are All Stars and Phase 11 really the best of the lot? Would we be asking the same questions 52 yrs from now? Would the comments and questions ever change? Would the UNC and PNM give each other a chance to 'tief' every five years? Oops, sorry 'bout the politics.
The Greens will die when Trinidadians stop trying to be Jamaican … Act; Talk; Sing and dance like them. Trinidad has so much to offer but a minority will spoil it for everyone else. How the hell you could play Reggae at Panorama? Do you honestly think Jamaicans will allow Soca at Reggae Fest …NEVER!!!!
Panorama has always been identified as an integral part of the "Carnival Celebrations". These celebrations (as are almost all Trini events) are done in 'fete' mode. This is the nature of the culture. You cannot disconnect Panorama from fete.
That's it! In a nutshell.
For me the question is a mute one. Panorama was in existence long before the greens, the greens are occupied by people whp want to lime and drink whilst pretending to be interested in the National Instrument, if party on the greens is promoted by the persons responsible for Panorama, then we are in serious cultural meltdown, if however this is not the case then they have the power to put a stop to this the question is however have they got the nerve. This situation is seeking to make the steelband irrelevant as it was when I was growing u[ in the 50"s and 60"s, do we really want to go there
The people who go to the greens go to party, they are not pretending to be anything but party people. How has the POTG affected panorama? At the end of the day there are winners and losers..and so it goes. BTW it's passing strange that no one blamed the rain for falling on the pans during performance, then again it's early yet.
TOTALLY DISRESPECTFUL.. After two years of doing this and with allth e complaints and bacchanal from the previous years, thisi s still continuing. Those that are involved in doing this should be considered "PAN HATERS".
If this must take place why not put it to the other end of the Savannah. This is totally disrespectful for the art form.
