  • Leslie, your peeve leads us to the danger that the over abundance of time, energy and resources that is diverted to Panoramas, has on the development of all aspects of the Pan industry in TT.

Imagine if 1/3 of those where expended on (lets say) developing a Pan Institute, you may have had many certified many Pan craftsmen today.

Leslie,I believe that their are presently courses ( UWI ) in Pan tuning, though I not sure if there is an internationally acceptable certification.

  • In discussions someone suggested that pan people boycott every thing that's pan-related. That ain't gonna happen, and so with all the talent and creativity, at the end of the day we are DUMB. We like it so.

  • You are so CORRECT-Keep PAN alive
  • Like abused children, if you never felt loved at home, it’s hard to believe anyone cared, so you keep looking for another abuser to love you, the cycle repeats itself. With our colonial history, it’s hard to overcome that mind-set. What’s worst, with all the talents and creative skills we are not able to advance to the next level. The “Outcast” mentality is holding us back.

For example a “tuner” will dedicate 7 plus years learning his craft and none of the academic institutions at home will accord them the honor of being a master-craftsman in this field of science. No Dr. Neville Jules, Dr. Anthony Williams or Dr. Bertie Marshall I can go on and on. But a lawyer in Trinidad can appoint himself a Senior Counsel in order to justify a pay scale and pretend to be a legal expert. Correct me if I’m wrong?

“Emancipate ourselves from mental slavery, none but our selves can free our minds.” Bob Marley

    • Correction: Many lawyers.

  • LMJ, none of the above, they forgot how to fight.
