Wilson family brings steel pan music into schools for Black History Month

The Wilson family has been bringing steel pan music to Montreal for more than 20 years. This month, members have been playing in schools across the city as part of Black History Month.

Coronation Elementary School's Steel Pan Band. They have been performing at various EMSB schools for Black History Month. Watch their amazing CBC interview. They are wonderful. Thank you as well to their teacher, Ms. Fatima Wilson.

  • This school is the first school in Montreal where we started this pan program ...way back in 1991 ...it has had a continuous Steelpan program ever since, giving students over the years an opportunity to be exposed to the steelpan. The family has kept it up as part of tradition ...congrats to the school and family
