The theme continues to be blurred lines across all disciplines... Video, photography and presentation platforms...
The steelpan instrument is one the greatest technological savvy inventions in the history of man. It's very existence confounded scientists for years as many said, theoretically speaking' said it could not be done (multiple tuned noted from a single surface) LMAO. And who can forget all the tourist looking under the pan trying to figure out where the sound was coming from.
Fast-forward - However in an era when there are now cameras that are being made from bacteria, the minimum requirements and expectations surrounding all aspects of marketing, historical archiving, communicating and educating about this phenomenal invention has indeed been elevated.
This also caught WST's attention.
Also on display is the LS-100 by Olympus. It's a multi-track linear PCM Recorder. Mr. Ryusuke Hamakawa, product manager of audio products explained that LS-100 is available right now and is going for $400 US. It looks like a great tool for the steelpan arranger and or panist who is interested in making live recordings and composing. And while one doesn't normally think of Olympus as a leading manufacture of audio products - the specs on this item says it can deliver the goods.
Recording the pan, the steel orchestra and meeting the demanding and odd ways in which the steelpan musician sometimes works and thinks is indeed demanding. So it looks like it's going to pan sticks and the LS-100 when we go to the panyard.
The LS-100 is billed as a multitrack recorder, you can record up to 8 tracks, but only two tracks can be recorded synonymously. You can edit all the track simultaneously. It is an awesome companion that helps working musicians write creating demos, rehearsing, and capturing live performances. It also has an on-board tuner and metronome we are sure everyone will find handy. It only weighs 9.8 ounces. There is a lot more we would like to say about this recorder but we will wait until WST's has it in our hands we put it through it's paces. We are looking forward to testing it under pan-yard conditions and live performance conditions.
And then there is storage. The one thing those of us who operate in the digital world can never get enough of. Fast access, large capacity, in a small casing or sometimes invisible and trust-wordy is what we want all day long -- 24-7 when it comes to storage... Western Digital caught our attention. Although we missed "back-it-up" toy who was not present Western Digital showcased a wide range of products to meet the growing challenge of storing and recovering large amounts digital data for our media equipment.
End -- It will be included in the package that is sent to Mars...
Looking forward to testing these cameras under the cultural, creatives and NYC, UK, Carribbean, environmental extremes of panorama and the panyard...
