Twenty nine (29) bands will face the adjudicators on Sunday 22nd January in the National Panorama Single Pan Bands Preliminaries.

 

The event takes place at the Paddock, Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain, from 3:00 p.m.

 

First on stage is the Maraval-based All Aces. They have selected Robert Lord Nelson’s “Ah Going and Party Tonight” as their tune of choice arranged by Nigel Diaz.

 

Playing at position 29 is Music Makers. The band which hails from Picton Road, Laventille, will be performing the Jason Bishop & Darryl Henry-composed “Surrender” sung by Farmer Nappy.

 

Tickets are priced at $60. Bleacher seating is available.

 

Meanwhile on Saturday 21st, bands in the sister isle will face the four-person panel of judges. Unlike their Trinidad counterparts who are performing at a single venue, the Tobago bands have opted for their respective panyards/theatres.

 

The judges’ caravan will start at Hope Village, the home of Hope Pan Groovers at 7:00 p.m. Then it’s on to Get Down On It (Hope Village), Metro Stars (Pembroke) and finally Pan Fanatics (Mason Hall)… see Tobago Listing.

 

All score sheets will be opened on Monday 23rd January at a venue to be announced, after which the 32 semi-finalists will be announced.

 

Later that day, Conventional Bands in the Small and Medium categories will draw for playing positions at their respective regional offices.

South/Central Bands Kick off Single Pan Prelims on Thursday - Single Pan Preliminaries, Order of Appearance

 

Super Blue aka Blue Boy (Austin Lyons) is the composer of choice at the upcoming National Single Pan Band Preliminaries.

 

At the last count, the former Road March cum Soca Monarch winner has his tunes played by eight (8) bands. The majority of them (bands) are based in Eastern Trinidad. The tunes are: “Get Something And Wave”, “Signal To Lara”, “Unknown Band”, “Flag Party”, “No Curfew” and “Fire Coming Down”.

 

In respect to the 2012 selections, Fay Ann Lyons-Alvarez with Timothy Watkins (Baron) is the favorite composer with three (3) plays for “All Over”. Kerwin DuBois’ “Bacchanalist” comes in next with two plays, while “Vibes Cyah Done”, “Prophet of Pan”, “Surrender”, “Vibes” and “Cyah Wait Tuh Jam” have one play each.

 

Over all, a total of 64 bands will face the panel of adjudications over a four-day period in Trinidad & Tobago in a bid to qualify for the semi-final round on Saturday 11thFebruary at the Larry Gomes Stadium Car Park, Arima.

 

The preliminaries in all four regions will commence on Thursday 19th with the South/Central Bands at the Pleasantville Community Grounds, Pleasantville, San Fernando, from 6:00 pm.

 

It will be followed by the bands in the East on Friday 20thJanuary at the Larry Gomes Stadium Car Park, Arima, at 7:00 pm.

 

On Saturday 21st, the action shifts to Tobago where four (4) bands will be judged at their respective pan yards from 7:00 pm.

 

Then on Sunday 22ndJanuary, the focus will be on bands in the North. Their venue is the Paddock, Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain. Starting time is 3:00 pm.

 

Admission to each of these events is TT$60.00 with the exception of Tobago which is free to the public.
