  • An addendum to prev comment: 1st line shoud read  "adjacent to the precincts of the performing stage ' The rule, therefore, should state that NO rehearsals would be permitted on the grounds  of the QPS during competition.

  • The "HOLDING BAY" shall be a location "IMMEDIATELY"  adjacent to the performing stage.  Steelbands shall "STOP" playing upon arrival at the "HOLDING BAY". Question for the white-haired official in the RED shirt who prohibited "Tripolians" from rehearsing at the entrance. Why? Was he familiar with said rules? Officials should be acutely aware of rules and regs. You cannot make errors like that in the biggest competition of the year.

  • YES.ILIKE THE RULES.AND ALL SHOULD REMEMBER THAT RULES ARE TO BE OBEYED.GOOD LUCK TO ALL "BANDIT"

  • TONE!

If tone is an issue with any steelband, one must wonder how would this be determined. Could someone please explain in depth? BTW, be prepared for a constructive rebuttal, but not in an angry "tone".

PS: There is no definition or interpretation for TONE. (Tone is therefore subjective)

    Here us a question.

Pertaining to 6. Judging Criteria 6.2 (a) thru (d); Is it fair to interpret "a maximum of 'x' points shall be awarded under this category" or should it read "a maximum of 'x' points could be earned" under this category?

  • May I suggest the following formula for the awarding of points  b y the judges in the 4 criteria categories.: In the two categories allowing a maximum of 40 points (arrangement and general performance), points should be awarded only in multiples of 4. That is, a score in those categories can only be one of , 0, 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36, or 40. In the two other categories allowing a maximum of 10 points, points should be awarded only in multiples of 2. That is, a score in those categories can only be one of, 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, or 10.  This system would allow the judges to be more considered and deliberate in their assessment of relative differences between one performance and another , and would reduce the arbitrary and often suspect perception of one-point differences between one band and another. Thank you for this great information on the panorama rules.

  • I love the rules....congratulations Pan Trinbago! It is my hope that ALL bands are furnished with a readible copy of the rules and in so doing, apprise and properly prepare their performers and related affiliates about them.

The rule that stands out, is: "Each steelband shall commence its performance before the judges upon receiving an instruction to do so by means of an, Amber Flag or instruction from stage personnel" but am I to assume to lights would not longer be the prompt? As a Renegades performer (unable, however, to perform this year owing to the effects of a sprained ankle) who experienced the band's excessive delayed start of play at the 2011's Semi-Finals due to "noise emanating from behind the North Stand", I hope our management committee clearly reads out and explains the rules for ALL members to thoroughly comprehend and interpret as intended to be. DESPITE WHAT HAPPENING ON OR OFF STAGE, START TO PERFORM WHEN THE RESPECTIVE AUTHORITY SAYS TO!  I understand rehearsals with our new musical director -- Duvonne Stewart -- are progressing smoothly with an uplifted spirit and improved discipline. I will attest tomorrow night.
