The comment by Barbara on the placings of 1, 2 & 3 in Panorama over the years is a valid one which I have noted over the years. In my research I can confirm that only Panam North Stars in the first Panorama in 1963 played ay 1 and won. Some claim that Renegades also did. I don't remember. The same thing also applies to calypso where no one has ever won at the number one position.
We had the priviledge of visiting SILVER STARS pan yard just 3 weeks prior to semi-finals and witnessing genius at work! Congratulations to all the talented musicians, arrangers, leaders and conductors on their winning, yet again, the Panorama Finals. The arrangement and performance of 'Battle Zone' was sheer genius! Thanks to your website we were able to be part of the audience! Thank you from fans 'down-under' Australia.
Can a statistician like,Selywn Ryan, please do an analysis of Panorama final results to determine the likelihood of a steelband playing in position 1, 2 and 3, placing 1st in the finals? I suspect bands in those positions are at a huge disadvantage.
Wish steel would talk, indeed. I could not see a thing. Thanks to radio. And silly me, I fell asleep right after Phase 2, and did not "see" Silver Stars. I really wonder, when will steel really talk?
