I started playing professionally in CAIRO, a steel band in Belle Vue at the age of 10 yrs old in 1956, just before my 11th B/day in April, being born April 2nd 1945, in 1958, I started playing the 4ths & 5ths tenor pan, where my neighbour, an original member of North Stars Ronald "becky" Montrose taught me, the "Ping Pong Rondo" a piece composed by Lt Joseph Nathanial Griffith, arranger of the TASPO, and a piece called "Skokiean", "beckey" took me to practice at night for that carnival season to play on the road, the tune played by North Stars was "Cute Chick" other tenor players were; Herman "rock" Johnston, Fredrick "Tucker" Lovell, and of course "becky", Jap, Null, Lakie, Pellum, Roy Forde, Mc Carty, et al, I blossom as a player through the years, and by 1960 under Anthony Williams and "becky" I could play with the best of them holding my own, Johnston and Tucker fell ill, and was hospitalized in 1958, "Becky and Null" moved on up to play double seconds, as I was able to hold the band together, Johnston returned late in 1960, and started to help Williams sink and tune as I watch them both, we prepaired for the 1962 Music Festival after carnival, we learn't 3 pieces before "Voices of Spring" the first was a piece by the Late John Donaldson called "Boca Chimes", then "Angel Serenade by Schubert, "Humorous" by Bizet, then Voices, I'll complete this later on..
