Andy Narell as a panorama arranger for Skiffle Bunch in 1999 (Coffee Street) and 2000 (Appreciation) made the panorama finals both years. If you compare Birdsong performance in 2014 semis and 2015, their placing was a big jump from15th in 2014 to 11th in 2015, 10 bands qualified for the finals. Call it what you may, I say that's significant improvement for the band. Andy now sees himself as a renegade arranger by challenging the view of what is panorama music. Just trying to give an objective opinion.

We had this same discussion last year and if Andy is back with Birdsong , we will have it next year. If you can arrange Panorama music it doesn't matter what race you are , Bobby Mohammed proved this in 1965 , people were laughing to see a band made up of mostly Indians playing pan , but the laughter soon changed to cheers as Guinness Cavaliers rocked the stands , Andy had chances to make this happen but did not . Alll in all Andy is not a Panorama arranger in spite of his amazing pan skills .

Valentine, that is a rather simplistic stereotypical analysis. It follows the view that only Black

people can sing the Blues, or only Whites can play classical music or Blacks can run fast.

Valentine Young , that's what I am talking about . His music is excellent . It's not just Panorama style music . Panorama , To win the arranger has to be on his game , the players have to be able to execute the arrangements , the engine room has to keep the tempo . Too many times I have seen bands start at top speed only to see the tempo drop after a few minutes .If Birdsong was to have a fighting chance next year they have to say Adios , Sayonara , Ciao , Aloha to Andy Narrell . He is probably going to be on this forum like last year with his excuses. Blessings .

I Think Andy Narell don't have a Clue about arranging a Panorama Tune. Panorama Pieces needs some Trini Spices and Flavors which he is not adding. Panorama is a Trini thing which is imbedded in our Soul. He don't understand that. He is trying to Push His Caucasian Style Music into our Panorama and it is not taking root. He should try to Listen to the Great Panorama Pieces of times gone by and try to Learn its beats and chords Progressions instead of trying to force His will on our Competition. He is a mere Student of Our Art and is not learning too well. He should either Change His Style or just give it up. Birdsong should also be wise enough to realize that they are wasting time and energy by keeping Him.

That might be an answer Bede , but with all due respect to Birdsong , I don't think they have the lightening speed the top bands possess , so he can't do this although It wouldn't be his Calypso Jazz blend style of arranging .

I wish somebody can Speed this tune up to Panorama speed and see what we will have. If you take Phase2 or All Stars music and play it to this speed it will be the same, I think that's all Andy needs to do with his Tunes.

Going to go against the grain here . This is definitely not Panorama arrangement . A jazz competition might be more suited for this. I said earlier when birdsong announced they were bringing Andy back , I couldn't believe it . They will never even come close to winning with Andy at the helm , I hope they have learned a huge lesson . Let me say my opinion has nothing to do with race or you have to be Trini born . I like Andy , I have most of. his CD's but his style of Panorama arranging will never cut it . He should do Birdsong a huge favour by making this his last attempt . My humble opinion , feel free to agree or disagree . Blessings .

Some people just like DU DUP and BRADAM BRADAM. Time to leave that 'jump up' mentality behind.

We have outgrown that, now is time for musicality, use of chords, sharps, flats etc.
