My name is Valentine Young 'aka' Val. I learned to play pan with a Steelband named 'Chicago' previously known as Hill Sixty. I left Chicago and sharpened my skills with a band called Straronettes which latter became Atlas Travel Bureau Ambassadors. In 1965 We all migrated to the Coca Cola 'Gay Desperadoes, I stayed with Despers until 1968. I left Despers and went to Solo Harmonites in 1969 & 1970. The next year I went to CIBC Starlift Steel Orch which won Panorama jointly with Solo Harmonities. I joined the the Police Service in 1973 and was a member of the Police Steel band from 1976 to 1988 when I left the Service. In 1987 I played with Exodus Steel Orch which played Ray Holman's Pan Woman. The last year that I played at Panorama in Trinidad was 1988 with Tokyo Steel Orch which played Ray Holman's My Band. Later that year I migrated to the US where I now reside.

That's the point Val. panorama taught steelbands to sit back and wait for a few dollars insted of coming on the road and establishing themselves as an independent organization. All Stars is the best example of how a steelband ought to be in 2015.
Phase 2 Misbehave, Allstars dust in ur face, Renegades pan in ah rage.
YES, lan, "Crnival is color ", but Carnival is also tradition , and the judges' decision reminded us of that .
My error Masmen who are not honest enough
Hello Valentine,
I thought I was the most honest man in this world until now. No! I am not disputing the judges decision, as a matter of fact I am extremely happy and proud that ALL STARS STEEL ORCHESTRA won the 2014 Band of the Year. I see you take their victory as a mere given, since "CARNIVAL IS COLOUR" I believe that you are also happy with All Stars' victory, but because of your honesty, you do not think that they were the best in 2014. I do applaud you for stating the sentiments of all "THOSE MASMEN" who have been shoo shooing, but are honest enough to publicly air.
LOVE PEACE & PAN
Val, I fully concur with you, I grew up with Franklyn in Laventille an always admire the Brother since Hylanders era. What a loss ! May he rest in peace.
