Sweet Eustace, I see what you mean by "Duvone Samaroo". It almost sounds as if Dr. Jit is back in the saddle, and for that reason it strikes a welcome nostalgic chord. But if he (The Duke) can do that, what does that tell you?
This is seriously good, and even I can tell it's not even really ready yet.
Panorama 2012 is shaping up to be a year of fierce competition. Boogsie and Smooth better watch out!
excellent vibrance good speed clarity of sound perfect interjection of the mid range pans not taking over the melody but integrated suffiently to be heard yet harmoniousy ingrained in the tune .this is surely a master piece of an arrangement as it embodied carnival panorama excitement and the true essence of pan
I am totally in love with this arrangement and i honestly believe that one must sit and really listen deep to really get the effectiveness of this arrangement. Listen to the way the doubles tenors and quadrophonics along with the four cellos sound almost as if the band members are singing the tune. Quite beautiful isnt it?
Every steelband has a distinctive sound, and the modern Renegades sound is the sound that was created by Jit Samaroo.
The arranger pays homage to the classic Renegades sound especially in the introduction, then adds his own touches while retaining that Renegades sound.
Personally, I'll be disappointed if Renegades did not sound like Renegades
It is all good music…what seems to be lacking is the LOVE of PAN in some of the comments. The comments about similarities have been here every year since panorama started many years ago. What the critics fail to understand is fact of interpretation. The PAN is the VOICE of the arranger. If you hear a tune by Sparrow or Scrunter, you know it is them by voice. Listen to any Producer worldwide (DR. Dre; Akon; Eminem; BabyFace). The tune may be different but the voice stays the same. No matter what!!! It is music, and as such the producer has a certain vibe-spin he would put on it to denote his creation. Jit had the SAMBER that Renegades still play today. AllStars has the high pitched Pans that roll with the runs of Smooth with tempo. Sharp and Phase II introduced the R&B Jazz fusion. The only time you may find variation in Pan is when a non-Pan-Man or Woman arranges for a Steal band. We have just got to enjoy every minute of this golden instrument and its players.

That was wonderful. I liked the intro very much, like the Renegades of old.
Interesting that people are happy Renegades sounds like Renegades but some of those same people want other bands to sound different
