"Dragon Dance" -The Mighty Sparrow with Byron Lee and The Dragonaires

The collaboration between the Mighty Sparrow and the fabulous Byron Lee and the Dragonaires produced some great music and many classic hits.

One of my favorite calypso hits from their successful second album was this tribute to dragon dancers everywhere.

This could also be seen as a tribute to the Dragon himself, Byron Lee of Jamaica, one of the most successful and influential bandleaders and musicians to emerge from the Caribbean in the last century.

The dragon dancer was a fixture in Trinidad Carnival of yesteryear, and dragon dancing was an art .

So, since we're remembering dragon dancers, here is a little tribute to these old time masqueraders.
