The Mighty Sparrow cannot hide his disappointment with the death of the short lived West Indian Federation in this calypso classic. Here is his take on that momentous event with one of his winning calypsoes from 1962, "Federation", supported by The March of Dimes Quartet.Again I must mention the support of this fabulous Quartet,. who've never been adequately credited for the stellar work they did harmonizing and backing up singers of that era.The legendary March of Dimes Quartet featured:Nap Hepburn, Conrad "Laddie" Prescott, Marjorie Johnson, and Allan Haynes.

  • My 1st trip to Jamaica was in 1966.  I wanted a 'record' to take home & the only one I could find was of 'Sparrow'.  I still have it, but later discovered he wasn't from Jamaica.  Years later when I was fortunate enough to see some of his performances (in my home town - I am so lucky) I realized it didn't matter which island he came from.  He is just a terrific entertainer, and a promoter of Calypso, & Soca music!  A great performer & Caribbean advocate!
