If you think about it, there are a lot of tributes going through the site over time. What do you think about the idea of including an "In Memorium" column here as a place for all tributes, so not only can we (and WST) pay tribute to whomever we think is important, but it'll also act as an archive about their lives for anyone doing research later? Just think about somebody, for example wanting to get good info about Greg Isaacs. The column could include not only biographical info but a video or two showing their life work
Do you think that would be a useful addition to the site?.

Yes, and all. And I agree. BTW, I have no doubt that both James Brown and Elvis would have been memorialized in here, Wmlpan, being as the roots of their music were somehow related to the roots of the musicians who invented the pan ...lemme check the back issues...
...if you get my drift. No disrespect was intended to Master Greg by my comment. I think I made that clear in my original post
There are Caribbean music artists from the Islands --who didn't somehow get mentioned when they passed in here. It was kind and respectful to put it in. And an unusual note for a pan-dedicated site, is all.
Related artforms? Because one can play reggae on the pan? <<clears throat and looks off into the distance thoughtfully>> LOL, didn't I just watch Liberace playing classical music together with the pan on TV well before reggae became an artform outside Jamaica through the talent of Bob Marley and before Greg Isaacs was old enough to sing publicly? My buddy Alvin Taylor, may he rest in peace, knew about the pan as a youth in Jamaica. He was a great man in two other worlds unrelated to music, although he played in a band as a young man. I hadn't realized that knowing about pan before me was reason to be memorialized in here, possibly because it isn't.
Anyway that's all beside the point. Isaacs was a great performer. The post was made. It's done and accepted as a tribute. Finished.
And Glenroy, our pan --the most recent musical instrument in the world whose closest relative is the xylophone-- has long ago outgrown the Junkanoo doodop as an instrument and a musical expression, and continues to evolve in both form and musical application.
Did WST do the right thing by posting the memorial (other than paying respects to a fine musician)? Possibly, but for me the jury is still out. Perhaps the site should have an "In Memorium" column dedicated to all personages important to its readership. It would also act as a research archive.
I wonder who first became aware, and who first knew about the steelpan, you, Mark, or Gregory Isaacs? Hmmmmm......
By the way, James Brown paid 'nuff respect to Elvis Presley when the King of Rock and Roll died...
After all, calypso, reggae and steelband are all related artforms having similar roots..
WST/ Pan Times did the right thing , and should be commended
There a pan man in here somewhere? I couldn't tell because it was so dark. Who's making the pan talk for Isaacs?
.He left an outstanding musical legacy..
RIP Gregory Isaacs.
