My father had the extreme honor and opportunity of playing with Mr. Bertie Marshall and Highlanders in the 60's. I also had the opportunity of hearing great stories of what a great man Mr. Bertie was from my father and I also got to meet him. I was told that my father, Linton Richins, who played with Highlanders, were one of the first men that got to play the Amplified pans with Highlanders. I wish I could have seen the 1966 album "If I loved you" close up, to see if my dad were one of the men. R.I.P. Mr. Bertie Marshall.
The record of bombs live in the memory of early pan lovers.Even though All Stars have been said to have started the Bomb, It was Crossfire's another night like this to which the public responded in 1958.Boms came from many stel bands and the crowds garhered at Green Corner to hear the West bands like Philo James' Starlift, Invaders
Crossfire. Of course there was Ebonites fom Morvant with Rose form the south. All this took place after hearing All Stars on Charlotte Street. After a while the bombs lost their flavour and , in order to save it a competitionwas introduced, but somehoww it never really survived after Panorama started taking most of the bands reheasal time.
These old recordings should be re-issued in the wave format with all the scratches on the LP. What about all those old live classical recordings of the steelband festivals at Queen's Hall; in particular Pan Am North Stars??
Pan Trinbago should also release from it's archives the voluminous Panorama recordings at the Savannah from the early years, a good form of income for the organization we only hear about eagerly at carnival time.
This is for the Pan Trinbago organization; can the public book Panorama finals tickets online??

Hello! Does anyone know if the "BOMB" competitions were documented like the panorama competitions?
I would love to know how many times Hylanders won The BOMB competions and the songs they played.
Thank you!
Truly delightful
Thanks, again, Glenroy.
Bertie Marshall was the genius/creator/instigator in pan tuning just as Clive Bradley was the genius in pan arranging.
