My condolences to the family and friends. As a boy I loved to listen to my mother's Hylanders LP - Let Every Valley Be Exalted was my favourite
A rustic sound then, but oh! What a mellifluous sound. Memories don’t leave like people do. Bertie and his invention will remain with us forever and ever. … You have now joined the symphony of the Maker. RIP Dear Soldier.
Pan Diaspora
I would like to extend my condolences to the family, friends and associates of Steel Band Icon Bertie Marshall. May he rest in peace!
May God bless all our steepan pioneers, both above and below ground!!
Many of us have never met this Genius of Pan but have heard of him , read about him , and listened to his music as an arranger and Pan Tuner and his band Highlanders and their Magical sound and performances come to the fore . What his work has done for T+T and by extension the entire World of Pan is invaluable . I do hope that some Permanent Memorial / Monument be established where the work of these Heroes are documented and displayed so the it would become an integral part of our History for the generations to come . Condolences to his Family and the Pan Fraternity for we have lost a Brother of Class.
