"Ivory and Steel" featuring two Trinidad music legends, Winnifred Atwell and Pan Am North Stars

I am posting this historic album because it must be heard.

I have searched and have not found it available for purchase anywhere, and that's to bad for pan fans everywhere, so I hope that it can be heard and appreciated here.

For the back story of this fastastic music,I refer you to the oustanding article by Dalton Narine that is posted on this forum.

There is nothing I can add to the story, so as you enjoy this album, please check out this well written and informative piece.

Great recording. Many of these recordings are tied up in law suits so they may never be reproduced. The world governing body for steelbands should be pursuing to get all these recordings.

@Peter Gray

Most of the stuff I post has been converted from record albums, and fortunately for the most part the quality has been good.

I try to avoid posting too much stuff that may be available on CDs. so as to encourage pan lovers to buy the CDs if they are available.

SUPPORT THE ARTFORM! - Buy pan music!

or , don't just talk about it," Do something for pan"!

Thanks so much for posting this ... I was once naive enough to believe that it should be available on CD by now, but no luck .  Of course, you can always convert from LP to CD (I've already done so with numerous old LPs I have), so that may be the best way to share it.

One love,   Peter

We've spent a lot of energy talking about judging, and on that subject this question begs to be asked.

This landmark performance by two of the best, most accomplished ever in their fields was not good enough for a "judge" who rated this as worthy of just four stars.

I wonder, what are his credentials?

Skip, if you reference the Dalton Narine article you'll get all the info you need about this album.

As usual with Dalton, its quite an atricle!

Do you have any ideas as to when this recorded?
I had the great honor and priviledge to meet and work with the reknown Tony Williams of the North Stars in 1967.
He was developing his 'spider' pan and it was an amazing sounding instrument at the time.
