  • @Ian, I will not be in Trinidad at Carnival. Thanks for asking.

  • Thanks !  I would never have been able to hear these classics..except for the sharing here on WST.

  • Sweet, sweet Kaiso. How I long to hear calypso with beautiful stories and music from more of the current artists.

  • @ ODW, Thanks very much. We must constantly remind the world of all accomplishments of our citizens.

Will you be in Trinidad at Carnival?

  • Thanks Ian, "The Grand Master" was a true genius none can compare with these accomplishments.

  • The Lord Kitchener's, "67" is memorable to me, because it was the first Kitchener calypso I learned in my short time with Desperadoes.  Musician, Mr. Ron Berridge arranged a verse and chorus, but that version was scraped when the band brought in the late Scpio "Sarge" Seargent, who arranged an entire different version.

Ok, These are some facts about "The Grand Master" in the pan world.                                                            (1) 6 of his winning panorama tunes were also the Roadmarch.                                                                           (2) From 1963 until his passing in 2000, his tunes were played by a finalist at 34 out of those 37 panoramas.  (3) At panorama 1975, 7 of the 8 finalist performed his tune and in 1975 it was 6 out of 8.                                (4) A tune of his were chosen by the finalists over 112 times.                                                                                   (5) A Lord Kitchener tune has been the winning panorama piece 18 times. (De Fosto has 6 and sparrow 4)
