  • I am  positive as you mention Shiris Butterfly they the Boston High School played a repertoire of Classical,Jazz, and some Reggae. But the Arranger not only did not have a clue of Trinidad being the inventor of PAN or the fact that Calypso is the root of pan music

  • Give me the position of marketing our greatest invention to the people who are not only players of the pan but teaching this in schools etc. all over the world. The Orlando Convention centre, the largest and most well known in Central Florida hosted a "Teachers Convention" and to my total surprise and pleasure, the Boston High School steelpan side played the most enjoyable, talented repertoire of classical, jazz and some 'reggae' to the crowd's delight!! So sad to learn that the 'arranger' had no clue about the history or the country where this great instrument was created!! It ticks me off, definitely lack of marketing especially to those who have already learnt to play and the 'teachers' who are sharing their talents with others, shouldn't the 'singers', performers, writers be introduced to our version of their 'pieces'....the pan needs to be about us and not 'everyone's' rendition of where and how they were told of its creation :( It makes me sad and want to tell its story :) To the world Any Williams was the grand master of lyrics to die for :)
