This is another great example of the " slow jam" chip along style tempo and arrangement the steelbands favored the1960s, especially for the road.
A comfortable pace for playing, and or a relaxed chipping along, at J'ouvert or Las' Lap
Silver Stars! They put the "E" in Engine room.
Music! Memories! Music! Sweet Pan!
I agree that Salud D'amour was sweet. But when you listen to the originals . . . this was their best. What pouchet did with the classical tune was indeed remarkable. He made it sound like it was written for pan 'on de road'.
It is one of the greatest ever!
An a man ask for Ebonites 'Roses from the South'! Murder! Dat is music!
Someone could really post it?
When this tune was heard on the radio, it announced a Government programme for many years,
which made it part of everyday life since radio was the way to go at that time.
Unfortunately the entire track was played only just an intro of less than a minute.
One of the short comings of Silver Stars in the days of the "Bomb" the players were not "road men"
so every time the band moved it sometimes went off of timing. But to stand up and play was something else.
I prerfer the flip side of Salut D'Amour, You made me love you.
Teddy
Sweet too bad!
Dis tune was on de "Hit Parade" for months, maybe longer than 3rd World's "American Patrol". However, most Silver Stars supporter will swear dat "Salut D'Amor" was their best bomb ever.
Dis should spark a conversation......RIP Edwin, and thanks for de music.
talk about sweet from the ole days
Thanks Brenda. This 60s PAN classic will "rock" forever!!
