  • This performance make me feel so good. In 2009 the steelband that my two children play for in St.Vincent, the SEA OPERATIONS Starlift had a christmas concert at the Arnos Vale playing field  and this was one of the selections played for which they obtained a standing ovation .This is great music...Pan at its best. Ah love it!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Very good,

    Brought back memories

  • Glenroy, your ears must have been burning over the last few days because I have been thinking about The Blue Danube Waltz that I found in 1977 or 1978 when I was in Trinidad.  I can't remember the steelband then, and it was a faster tempo, but, thank you very much for finding this one.
  • Very beautiful performed by Merrytones Steel Orchestra. Many Thanks Mr Glenroy Again like a this........
  • nice change of pace.
    Thanks
  • Glen, thanks for this gem yuh making meh pores raise, I'm reliving my pan history hearing this piece, this is Merrytones from Greenhill village in Diego Martin, they have a long history starting from the mid fifties of involvement in the steelband movement I remember Kendal the resident arranger also Bryan Serrette who played tenor with the band, Bryan is now the vice president of Pan Trinbago, he's is the one responsible for writing Pan Trinbago constitution.http://www.pantrinbago.co.tt/index.php?option=com_content&view=...
  • Merrytones is one of the older bands in T&T and hails from the Diego Martin area.

They've been a large band in their past, but more recently have been participating in the small band category of Panorama, where they've been very successful, having won in 1995, 2004 and 2005

I'm not sure about the year of this performamce, I believe it was in the 1980's.

  • Glenroy thanks for this posting. What year and where does Merrytones hail from. Nice crisp sound. Pride and joy.
  • The Carnival is over , and so is the Panorama.

Now, let us relax and enjoy the mellow , classical sounds of Newtones.
