From the 1957 Cook album,"The Champion Steelbands of Trinidad" here is the Katzenjammers Steel Orchestra with their 1956 Steelband Festival winning version of "The breeze and I"(Ernesto Lecuona)

  • A refreshing Breeze and I am delighted to  hear this winning tune of  the 1956 Festival. Thank you GRJ for posting all these GEMS. The results of this festival were: 1st = Katzenjammers of  Port Of Spain . 2nd = Southern All Stars and 3rd = Southern Symphony. The other bands in that Final were Ebonites, Dixieland and Starland. Merlin Taitt of Free French Steel Orch. won the Soloist category with Emmanuel Thorpe 2nd.  Texican Steelband from Guyana was a Guest Artiste on the Final night.
