This uptempo arrangement of the Franz von Suppe' "Poet and Peasant" overture is one of the best I've heard on pan, and a fine example of a classical piece put to calypso tempo. It is from the Pan Trinbago CD "Steelband Excellence".This CD is the companion album to the "Panorama Champions of the Twentieth Century" CD, both of which should be in every pan lover's collection

  • very nice  well done.
  • very nice, the tempo is a little faster than the original by gay flamigoes, but nice
  • the first time i heard this tune played in calypso tempo it was Gay Flamingoes at a Boy Scout Jamboree at the Queens Park Savannah sometime in the late seventies and i believe it is more or less the same version, since Exodus and Flamingoes are linked. It has always been one of my favorites.
