THE SPARKLES have produced a Short Documentary Film on CrossFire Steel Orchestra of Brooklyn - Story Synopsis: “The Sparkles” is a short documentary film that follows young steel panists in Brooklyn who aspire to win the Panorama Competition held in 2013. The Panorama is the the largest steel pan competition held annually in the United States, which is originally from Trinidad and Tobago. Winning is a very honorable, meaningful achievement. In particular, this film exhibits a story about Crossfire, a band that struggles to win this competition despite their young age, various obstacles, difficult lives, and previous failures to win first place. Viewers will feel the charm of the young panists and their immense dedication to their cultural roots and homeland. Story: Crossfire, a steel pan band that has been based in Brooklyn for more than 15 years, consists of members that are mostly teenagers and young adults. In the summer of 2013 they participated in the Panorama Competition, the largest steel pan contest since 1971. Crossfire has had numerous failed attempts placing first at the Panorama Competition. ADLIB, which is another talented steel pan band, defeated Crossfire in 2012. Crossfire got 2nd place next to ADLIB. check out the website http://tommystart.wix.com/thesparkles
