2017 19th Annual SteelBand Street Parade Laventille ,Trinidad

The Laventille SteelBand Festival Foundation presents the 19th annual SteelBand street parade and we were there to catch it in all its glory. It was such a pleasure being there first hand to see the gifts of the pannists! Wait until the end to see who won. We had fun. Thanks for watching

Steelpan is a musical instrument originating from Trinidad and Tobago. Steelpan musicians are called pannists. Steelpans was invented in T&T in the 1930s and is widely regarded as the only major musical instrument to be invented in the 20th century. It is a skillfully hammered 55 gallon oil drum which is carefully tuned to produce exact sounds.

This is culture and it's beautiful. Enjoy!
