As a former player of a big 5 steelband who played in the original Pan Ramajay Competiton held at the Exodus Pan yard where all Steelbands/contestants performed on the same STAGE, with the same MICS, LIGHTING and ACOUSTICS, the playing FIELD was level and no advantage to the performers. But in this INTL Pan Ramajay Virtual competition, In my own opinion because of COVID 19 I saw some contestants( A quartet) performing in the outside in the open and a duet and soloist performing in a pan yard with lots of back ground pans stacked in the room, In my opinion they were at a disadvantage to the other contestants performing in an enclosed room or studio that have no outside noise with better acoustics, lighting and audio. Bugs mention basement recording, but CORVID19 or not I cannot see basement recording doing a MIX of all contestants all over the world at the same time. Again Congrats to EXODUS and all winners and contestants on a job well done by keeping Pan Alive. MUSIC SWEET, DINGOLAY!!!

Basement or some other crew could easily handle the job through remote engineering. Each contestant could be sent a small box with a camera, external, mics, lights and tripod. All that would be needed is an internet line.  And a pre-paid return shipping for the equipment.
