... which is ultimately not SURPRISING TO ME ... but a LITTLE DEPRESSING because it shows that PAN MUSIC is still a NOVELTY to the rest of the world.

Or maybe THE EXODUS ADMINISTRATION had TOO MUCH of an INSULAR VIEW in their approach to THE PROJECT.

If we are the MECCA of the STEELBAND and we want the WHOLE WIDE WORLD TO KNOW -- then we must first learn a LITTLE BIT about the outside world beyond a STEELBAND VISITING.

There are THOUSANDS of EXPATS who are willing to help (THE LOCAL BLIND) in this endeavor -- but hubris and arrogance are clogging the drains that lead to the SEVEN SEAS!!!

  • ... and to make matters worse!!! Ah going down the list and I see DENMARK -- ah say GOOD ... we have an ENTRANT from EUROPE ... but when ah check out THE MAN PICTURE and BACKGROUND on WHEN STEEL TALKS -- the man is AH AMERICAN!!!

SO MUCH PAN IN SWEDEN -- and not ONE ENTRANT FROM SWEDEN. Ah thought that SWEDEN did done start already setting up PAN FACTORY -- to MANUFACTURE WE OWN CULTURE ... but what ah seeing, lord it have me grieving ... why is the STEELBAND STILL SUFFERING to make GLOBAL WAVES!!!

  • It is very interesting to me that that you use the word DIASPORA  to describe the Exodus International Pan Ramajay  Competition. As we all know DIASPORA has many meanings including EXODUS, a noun meaning (a mass departure of people especially emigrants) I guess you were looking for a more Global representation of the International Pan Ramajay Competition like we had for the International Panorama Competition a few years ago. This is a good move by the Exodus administration and a GIANT step for Pan in the future when the next one comes around.

  • Well...something has to replace the "panorama" syndrome...Yuh know how it is...

This was only the first go at it.  I suspect they will expand their reach for the next go at it.
