Austin, Texas - The 12th annual Inside Out Steelband Festival featured Leon “Foster” Thomas performing his original music last week at the One World Theatre in Austin, Texas. This event showcased steelbands from McCallum High School, Covington Middle School, and Bowie High School alongside a world-renowned steel drum performer.   • I'm not sure how much "flac" I'll receive for making this comment but it is interesting that many of these school bands have arrangers that following the Andy Narrell style of arranging. And before it's put into question, I am a Narell fan..

    Beyond that, it's great to see the instrument growing into diffrent venues. Hopefully the culture that produced it will also see this kind of organization and flourishing...

  • Thank you for this Video. I am in the process of assisting the Lancaster Public library introduce the steel drum as a project which could assist with diversity and provide younsters with an opportunity to challenge a new musical iddium which can be used as a tool in understanding diversity and opportunity for ecconomic growth in a slowing financial environment. Our project would be held from June 13th to 29th and we seek to tap help form throughout the United States and Trindad the instruments birth place.
    Any help that you can give in this regard would be welcomed
